Eureka Moment #3 joy joy joy.

Roby Alampay, executive director of the Southeast Asian Press Alliance (www.seapa.org)

(Adapted) "You know, studies have shown that when there is more press freedom, the level of corruption drops. Singapore however, is different: low press freedom but low levels of corruption.

There are other exceptions. The Philippines, which has exposes everyday, is on the surface more corrupt -- but because the free press there is doing its job. You know, it is not so much about corruption, but the perception of corruption.

In Singapore, if the press cannot test and question and explore, how do you know there is no corruption?"
